Chattanooga Nature Center is a 300-acre arboretum, a historic site filled with a variety of native trees, shrubs, and wildflowers. Visitors can learn about nature, reflect, relax and heal in this peaceful atmosphere. The nature center is home to families of red wolves, one of a very few successful captive breeding programs for this endangered species.

The Cherohala Skyway was completed in the fall of 1996 after being under construction for 34 years. Winding up and over 5,400 foot mountains for 15 miles in North Carolina and descending another 21 miles into Tennessee. The Cherohala Skyway crosses through the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forests thus the name "Chero-hala".
